Tan E-Jan is a passionate creative producer based in Malaysia. She is founder and director of In Situ, an arts and culture management consultancy specialises in facilitating international networking and exchange between Southeast Asia and the world at large. She is also co-founder of Toccata Studio, a not-for-profit creative incubator dedicated to creative research and development.
E-Jan’s productions are boundary pushing. They are works that see and move into the future; she has initiated discussions and projects that navigate transformation, with a speculative bent that extends into platform sessions where people of different professional backgrounds are brought together for discussions of building futures, real and make-believe.
E-Jan Tan is a bright force in the constellation of the vibrant arts scene of Malaysia: in 2014, she attended the Asia Producers’ Platform in South Korea, which she has since been committed as a planning team member since 2018. E-Jan is a proud alumni of the ISPA Global Fellowship, having participated twice in person, 2016 and 2017, participated online for year 2020. She has also awarded as international arts leader in the Arts Leadership programme by the Australia Council for the Arts. She has been invited as panel speaker to many international platforms, including the IETM Satellite meeting and PAMS, both in South Korea, and TPAM in Japan. Other cultural conferences include a two-week long seminar in 2015 in Paris and Nantes, in which she participated representing Malaysia by invitation from the Ministry of Culture of France. E-Jan recently awarded IETM Global Connector for 2023-2027, working towards extended international exchanges across multiple continents. She is curator and facilitator for Australia Performing Arts Market (APAM) 2023 APAM SoutheastAsia exchange panel, focusing on discussion of new forms of arts leadership. E-Jan is currently pursuing an MA in Arts and Culture Management with Lüneberg University, Germany.
